As always, 404EVER is formatted for Substack, and may look strange in the e-mail newsletter. Please go here to view/read this episode in its intended form.
Here is the cover for the first arc of THE PHANTOM PLEASURE Graphic Novel Serial! It’s ECHO wrestling with her sentient (and illegally modded) Synth Suit. I spent a good amount of time on this thing, but I’m happy with how it turned out. I hope you all like it.
I’m sure the titling and format will evolve as the episodes come out. There’s a really cool color splash page that kicks off the story, but I think I’ll save it for the actual release on November 4th.
I’ve still been doing 12 hour days working on this comic! I have to say, I’m not even close to getting sick of it. In fact, it’s been pretty energizing, as one completed idea leads to another quite naturally. I’m basically a hermit at this point, but whatever it takes is what I’ll do…
Here is the Set-Up Page:
The distorted monitor texture was really fun to make. For those who’ve been following for a long time, this harkens back to the ultra-proto alpha version of the 404EVER story I released back when the lockdown first started. The narrative has changed quite a bit since then, and I can’t wait to present the whole thing to you. Even though there’s a lot of noir attitude and satirical content, some real complexity and heart grows out of the characters as it goes on.
People often ask me what kind of music I listen to while creating art, so I’ll share some links here:
STADT - Scum (ШТАДТ - Мразь) My favorite track on this one is Жажда (THIRST) at 9:17.
MASTER BOOT RECORD - INTERRUPT REQUEST
EYE SPY - AEON FLUX Original Series Soundtrack (Aeon Flux is awesome, and the character herself was a big influence for Halo Lan).
Cosmic Voices from Bulgaria - Zaspalo e Chelebiiche
I’ll share some more music next time. The first episode comes out November 4th! Please feel free to spread the word to people you think may enjoy it, I’d be grateful. And thank you to everyone who is already subscribed, with the sheer amount of content online, I’m honored that you’d give some of your attention to my creations.
